Yesterday was my birthday. For those of you who like to keep track...it was number 50. It's interesting that when we are young we look forward to getting older, like some sort of right of passage. But somewhere along the line we start to dread it. Familiar phrases of "God, I'm getting old" or "I'm feeling my age" ring in our ears. Which I find rather amusing because if you've never been that age before how do you know how it feels? Which brings me to explaining "How I feel about turning 50". |
The only time that I remember that age was any kind of issue for me was when I turned 25 and realized that I would be turning 30 in five years. But even that was short lived and by the end of the day it was forgotten.
Age only has the meaning that you give it. The question shouldn't be "How old are you?". The question you should be asking yourself is "How old do I feel?" or better yet, "How do I want to feel?"
Physical age is a given - but what's going on in your head is what counts.
Think about it.
